The most important job of the future

We want to lead the transformation of our industry towards a sustainable future. Just as we want to change the world, we want to develop everyone who is with us on the journey, both personally and professionally. Do you want to help shape the future of the world’s mining and mineral industry?

About the processing in Kiruna

At Kiruna Malmförädling, we transform ore from the mine into high-quality products. The process includes three main steps: sorting, enrichment, and pelletizing. The department consists of eight sections, four of which focus on the main process and four function as support sections in areas such as quality, technology and process development, material handling, and water and dams. Together, we drive innovation and quality forward at every step. Read more about how we process here: lkab.com/en/about-lkab/from-mine-to-port/process/ (https://lkab.com/en/about-lkab/from-mine-to-port/process/).

Quality Service Northern, part of the ore processing, has world-class laboratories that deliver high-quality and mission-critical analytical results through customized solutions to all of LKAB's operations. We consist of about 55 dedicated employees working at five different workplaces: Physical Laboratory, Quality Control, Chemical Laboratory, Quality Technical Support, and a management team. We work closely with a special team from Maintenance stationed at the workplace. Together, we ensure that we maintain the highest standards!

Your role

As a planning engineer or planner, you will work within and for the entire Quality Service Northern and collaborate closely with other planners, preparers, and other planning functions. The role is central to the overall ability of quality service to deliver to our customers.

As a planning engineer or planner, you will work in a team with the other engineers in the section. The role includes handling planning tasks and some project management. It also includes being able to step in as acting manager for the workplace when the regular manager is absent, e.g., during vacation.

Your main tasks include:

  • Responsibility for planning and developing the planning function within Quality Service Northern.
  • Dialogue with clients for assessing the practical feasibility of assignments, costs, and timelines for implementation.
  • Coordinate assignments within quality service when multiple parties are involved to deliver a good service to the clients.
  • Work with IT tools and develop methods for how these are used within the section.
  • Project manage projects within the section.
  • Step in as acting manager for short periods as needed.

Here you will have a central role within quality service and contribute to the section's ability to deliver.

What you bring with you

We are looking for a solution-oriented and structured employee who enjoys working in a dynamic environment. You have the ability to create and maintain good relationships, both within the organization and with external parties, and have a natural ability to collaborate with others to achieve common goals. Your resilience allows you to maintain focus under pressure and work in a structured manner to deliver efficiently and accurately.

To succeed in the role, it is an advantage if you have good knowledge of LKAB's operations and the processes that characterize our industry. Experience in quality work is meritorious, as well as previous positions in areas such as planning, project management, production management, and work management. We particularly value if you have a higher education with a natural science or technical orientation or an engineering degree.

The following is required for the position:

  • Approved high school grades
  • Driver's license B
  • Good computer skills, as the role involves working in several different systems
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
  • You also need to be able to communicate in English.
